The New England Aquarium

The New England Aquarium

Boston’s waterfront aquarium is one of its major attractions along with Fenway Park, Boston Common, Faneuil Hall and the Boston Harbor Islands.  The New England Aquarium's purpose is to allow visitors to enjoy the aquatic world.  NEAQ wanted to improve understanding of aquatic life so people could act to conserve the world of water, and to provide leadership for the preservation and sustainable use of New England’s aquatic resources. It is located on the Central Wharf at the end of Milk Street in Boston MA.

It is an older public aquariums, is recognized for its innovative exhibits, research and training activities, along with conservation programs. Be sure to see the 4 story high, 200,000-gallon giant ocean tank aquarium that provides walk-around views of a Caribbean coral head. There are plenty of exhibits displaying sea turtles, sharks, penguins, seals, sea lions, sea dragons, sea jellies and more. There is an IMAX theatre on site, restaurants, and you can go out on whale watching tours. The whale watching tour takes you 25 miles out of Boston Harbor to Stellwagon Bank which is a rich feeding ground for a variety of large whales, some of which are endangered species. Dolphins and seabirds are also visible on the tours.
