About Quincy MA

The city of Quincy is a centuries old seaside town just south of South Boston in the Southshore area of Eastern Massachusetts. The town’s 27,000 residents average 37 years of age and there are 3,000 more females and than males living here. According to the 2000 US census, the median household income was 113,000 and the median home value was 548,000 which are significantly above the MA state average. Most residents are employed in educational, health care and social services occupations.

Quincy residents are well educated. 98% have achieved a high school diploma with 76% obtaining a degree and 41% earned a graduate or professional degree. Real estate development is significant as over 140 construction permits were issued in 2005/2005.

The area is served by the local Charles River Hospital and by the Newton Wellesley Hospital to the west in Newton and the Deaconess Waltham Hospital in nearby Waltham. Local colleges are Babson College and Wellesley College in nearby Wellesley. Massachusetts Bay Community College is only 1 mile north of Quincy. There are two high schools and more than 8 primary/middle schools serving the city.  The Wellesley Free Library is 530 Washington Street housing over 200,000 books and 500 serial subscriptions. Local shopping centers are the Linden Shopping Center and the Wellesley Shopping Center. The Wellesley Country Club is only a few miles away.

Wellesley real estate is on the high side price wise, so many buyers are looking north to South Boston for homes.
