Boston Seaport Community is located on the northeast side of South Boston contained within South Boston's historic Fort Point Channel neighborhood. The port and waterfront are being redeveloped with the help of the Boston Redevelopment Authority to build a huge mixed use development area. The port development project will allow for larger container ships to access the Boston harbor. South Boston’s Fan Pier is a huge waterfront project that will create enormous commercial, office, hotel and residential developments. The Boston Institute of Contemporary Art will have its location here soon. The Boston Convention Center is located here. The marine industrial park, one of three industrial parks owned by the City of Boston contains 32 buildings here housing 200 companies in numerous industries. Completed projects here are expected to create up to 8,000 jobs in the Greater Boston area.

Seaport is home to the Seaport Hotel and Seaport World Trade Center Boston.
